Lyrics

I paid my taxes, paid all my dues
I pay my bookie, whether I win or lose
I wrote a check, to pay my monthly rent
Guess that’s where, all my money went

Another month here, trying to survive
Got to get in my car and go for a drive
The ghosts in my closet are starting to come out
They’re after my soul, and there’s no doubt

The sun comes up, every day’s the same
People call me Henry, but that’s not my name
I’d try to explain it, but it’d take too long
I’m in need of a chorus, for this here song

Gotta get myself together, now is the time
I’m writing these words and making them rhyme
But the song is unfinished, it’s still incomplete
Now I need Trystan, to give it a beat

This idea came to me, while I was at home
Without Trystan, this would be another poem
So Trystan, do your thing before I hit the road
Make this a hit
Call it, “MY MUSICAL ODE”

Words don’t come easy, sometimes when I write
Ideas come and go, whether day or night
Because of Covid-19, haven’t gone on vacation
Got existing conditions, time to take my medication

Burning up inside, I’m feeling on fire
I drank an energy drink, but I still feel tired
Looking out my window, gloomy is the night
What more can I do, but continue to write

Such is the life, that I’m living here today
I’m still above ground, what else can I say
I’m so grateful, for everything that I’ve got
The Lord’s been good to me, I kid you not

Gotta get myself together, now is the time
I’m writing these words and making them rhyme
But the song is unfinished, it’s still incomplete
Now I need Trystan, to give it a beat

This idea came to me, while I was at home
Without Trystan, this would be another poem
So Trystan, do your thing before I hit the road
Make this a hit
Call it, “MY MUSICAL ODE”
